New Mexico Open

Exempt:
Exempt “other” professionals, exempt PGA Member and Apprentice professionals shall pay a $475.00 entry fee and exempt amateurs shall pay a $300.00 entry fee.

Qualifiers:
All contestants attempting to qualify at the last chance qualifier on Tuesday, September 2 shall pay a $150.00 entry fee to the Sun Country PGA. Successful professional qualifiers shall pay an additional $325.00 entry fee, and successful amateur qualifiers shall pay an additional $150.00 entry fee. All successful qualifying fees must be paid prior to Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 5:00 pm MDT.

The estimated purse will be $90,000 (based on 2007 qualifying numbers). Amateurs who make the 36-hole cut will be awarded gift certificates.

Tournament Entry Procedure
To enter an event all players MUST register on-line through the New Mexico Open website.  The 2008 field will be filled to 144 players on a first come basis according to the Exempt Catergory (listed below) until the 1st entry deadline on Thursday, August 14.  After this deadline any remaining spots will be filled with the players on the waiting list that did not fall into one of the Exempt Catergories.

Exempt Categories
(1) Past Champions
(2) Top 35 and ties from the 2007 New Mexico Open
(3) Top 3 amateurs and ties from the 2007 New Mexico Open making the cut
(4) Sun Country PGA Members
(5) Adams Golf Pro Tour Series members
(6) Championship Host Professional (non-transferable)
(7) 2007 New Mexico Amateur Champion
(8) The first 10 professionals to bring a three person amateur team for the pro-am on Wednesday, Sept 3 will receive an exemption into the New Mexico Open.

Waiting List Procedure 
All players, not in one of the “exempt” groups, registering for the event prior to the 1st deadline will automatically be added to the waiting list.  After that deadline, if spots are available, players from the waiting list will be added to the field and their entry fees will be processed at that time.  When the tournament field reaches 144, the final 12 spots will be filled from the last chance qualifying event at the Inn of the Mountain Gods on Tuesday, September 2.

Last Chance Qualifying
If the field reaches 144 participants players can enter the last chance qualifier at the Inn of the Mountain Gods on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008.  The field will be limited to 40 players, and 12 players will qualify.  The qualifying entry fee is $150.   If a player qualifies, he will be required to pay the entry fee, less $150, before he is added to the field.
