Round 4 Recap

Round: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | Leaderboard

(Garden City, KS) - The final round at Southwest Kansas Pro-Am is over and after 72 holes only 2 players in the field were able to stay in red numbers. With gusts of wind blowing 40+ mph and constant wind of 30+ MPH in round three the 15 MPH winds in round four made it seem like a new course. Several players were able to make a push for the lead but no one was ever able to share the lead with the eventual champion as he played steady golf all day and all week.

Mason Overstreet (Fayettevill, AR) playing in his first event as a pro looked like a seasoned vet in the final round. Hitting fairways and greens all day and avoiding mistakes for most of the round. After an early hiccup on hole 1 it was smooth sailing for Overstreet until the 15th hole. In that stretch Overstreet recorded 4 birdies and zero bogeys and held onto his lead the whole day. A double on 15 brought players closer to the lead but Overstreet stayed calm and finished with three straight pars with a clutch 10 foot putt on 18 to hold onto the lead and win the 2021 Southwest Kansas Pro-Am.

Brandon McIver (Billings,MT) was nipping at the heels of Overstreet all day making birdie after birdie. McIver started the day 3 shots back and would make a double bogey early. McIver bounced back with 4 straight birdies at the end of his front nine to cut into Overbrooks lead. As it came down the stretch Overvbrook was just too steady and not willing to drop anymore shots. A 25 foot birdie putt on 18 to give McIver a share of the lead missed just right leading to an eventual Overstreet victory.
